Julien Charon – The Ecrins National Park’s mountaineering agreement, a shared ethical approach to managing mountain facilities

Julien Charron is currently responsible for refuges, outdoor activities and glaciers in the Ecrins National Park. Born at the foot of the Chilean Andes, he has always been passionate about mountains and nature. He joined the national parks in 1999 and worked as a field officer at various positions in Vanoise, Mercantour and the Ecrins. One of his current missions is to animate the Mountaineering, Climbing and Canyoning Convention of the Ecrins National Park. He works with mountain professionals and sports federations to strike the right balance between the development of high mountain activities, respect for the wildness of the heart of the national park and protection of the natural environment. He is also a mountain guide and a member of the Ethics and Environment Commission of the National Union of Mountain Guides (SNGM). He practices as soon as possible mountaineering, climbing and ski touring.
