Dawa Steven Sherpa is a Nepalese tourism entrepreneur, as well as an environmental activist. Dawa has climbed Mt. Everest twice, as well as other 8000m peaks and trekked the entire length of the Nepal Himalaya in 99 days over 1555km. Since 2008 he has been running Eco Everest Expeditions, focused on environmental practices to make Himalayan expeditions cleaner. Dawa’s environmental and conservation work has been recognized and awarded by IUCN, amongst others. He is also a climate change ambassador for World Wildlife Fund. Dawa is currently building a chain of 10 eco-lodges on the trekking trail to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes. They will encompass waste management, occupational health and safety and biodiversity management. He will be focusing his talks largely on challenges & solutions for constructing and running of these mountain lodge.
