John Cocks is a consulting engineer who specialises in human waste and wastewater management in remote places and elsewhere. He has worked in this capacity throughout New Zealand, including National Parks and other mountain areas, and in developing countries. John has climbed extensively throughout New Zealand, and in the Himalaya, Karakorum, South America, Europe and Africa. John was a co-presenter at the 2010 conference – Exit Strategies Managing Human Waste in the Wild, attended the Sustainable Summits 2014 conference, and co-coordinated the Sustainable Summits Conference 2016. He is a past president of the New Zealand Alpine Club and a member of its accommodation committee.
