Paul Petzl: The company, a key player in innovation for the future of high mountains

Paul Petzl

FrancePresident of Petzl

Paul Petzl is the son of Fernand Petzl, artisan model-maker and well-known caver. In 1975, along with his brother Pierre and their father, Paul created the company that bears his name in Crolles, near Grenoble. The workshop initially specialised in caving equipment, but has grown over the years, producing vertical access equipment and lighting for mountain use, climbing, work at height, emergency rescue teams, etc. In 2006, the Petzl Foundation was created to support actions of general interest for the communities related to the company’s activities. Now at the head of an international group, Paul continues to promote the values on which the company was initially founded: to remain a family-owned, independent company, to listen to users and to continue to innovate to conceive the technical solutions of the future.
