A forestry engineer from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Pascal Stoebener currently heads the natural hazards unit of the Swiss canton of Valais. He is also a member of the Federal Expert Commission on Avalanches and Rockfall. His role includes organising and managing the prevention of gravitational natural hazards in the canton. Monitoring potentially dangerous glaciers is one of his areas of responsibility.
