Bernard Debarbieux has been a professor of cultural and political geography and land planning at Geneva University since 2001. Before that, he worked at the universities of Grenoble, State of New York, Montreal and Paris VIII. His research concerns geographic knowledge and imagination, environment management and planning, as well as tourism activities, political and collective territorialities. His main fields of application are the European, North American and North African mountains.
